From Cousin Debbie Snyder Rotter

I have never been more moved by anything like I was at Ned’s funeral service. From my cousin Wendy’s poem about her little brother to the last friend who stood and spoke I sat in that first row and laughed and cried. Something magical happened as I took it all in . Since I am fourteen years older than Ned I never really knew him as an adult, but as I sat there his essence came alive, from his core joy for life to his fierce love and loyalty to family and friends. Then there is that special quality that everyone knows but is so hard to name, the one that drew so many to him. His sister Nancy called it an “inner light”, movie producers call it “star quality” and his friends simply called him “Superman.”
Instead of being down I found instead I fetlt inspired by my cousin and how he lived “one big rush.” I love that!

It seems I had a lot in common with him as well. His love of flying which is something I always wanted to do but settled instead for working in the industry as a gate agent for American Airlines at DFW airport. His love of eating and cooking which is my passion in life. When one of his best friends made reference to the quote “talk to me goose” I got a shiver up my spine cause I say that myself a lot. I am putting together a cookbook inspired by and dedicated to Ned. I want to collect recipes from his family and friends. Family favorites, personal favorites or ones that just have that “Ned” flair. I am partial to ethnic flavors so if you have a recipe that speaks to your heritage that would be awesome!

Please I need your help to make this happen. All proceeds from the cookbook will go to Shaan Snyder’s scholarship fund.
